Army nurse Lt. Edith Wimberly, in uniform, receives flowers on her arrival back in Shreveport in March 1946 after three-plus years captivity by the Japanese. She was one of the "Angels of Bataan," nurses who kept the health and spirits of soldiers alive during the darkest days of the war.

Poorly written obituary in the Shreveport Times, Tuesday, May 19, 1964, page 9-A. Used with written permission. The obituary doesn't use her well-known maiden name, nor does it state her wartime accomplishments.
