Sadie Attaya Rapp

Sadie Attaya Rapp passed away on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village on Hinkle Drive in Denton. Sadie, born on October 25, 1916 to Saleem "Samuel" A. and Tameena (Naher) Attaya, was the first of her siblings to be born on the family homestead near Picayune, MS.

A funeral service is tentatively scheduled for 10 am, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Denton, TX. Officiating will be Father Tim of Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Sanger Cemetery, Sanger, TX.

After retiring in 1980 from United States Public Health Service Hospital in New Orleans, as Chief Financial Officer and "Professional Woman of the Year", she settled first in Sanger and later in Denton.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters, and her husband, August J. Rapp. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Rapp Rush of Oakland, CA; two sisters, Victoria Attaya Spiers of Flower Mound and Christine Attaya Alix of Middlebury, CT; three brothers, Moses Attaya and wife, Barbara of Conroe, James Attaya and wife, Nina of Sanger, and Fred A. D. Attaya and wife, Mary of Euless and many nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be addressed to Good Samaritan Society, Denton Village, 2500 Hinkle Drive, Denton, Texas 76201 or Ann's Haven VNA Hospice, 325 W. McKinney, Denton, Texas 76201-7444.
