Helene was born in Stettin Stadt, Pommern, Preussen (Germany) and Immigrated to the United States with her parents and three siblings in June of 1882. It is thought she divorced her husband, Conrad Fiedler, after he had abandoned the family and then about 1913, she changed the spelling of her married surname from "Fiedler" to "Fielder". Helene spoke German the majority of the time, both in and out of the home, but little else has been documented about her life before or after she married. Her son, Russell Fielder, claimed she was a very strict disciplinarian and raised her children accordingly. Helene had been ill the last two years of her life and remained hospitalized at Eloise until her death.
