Obituary
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Melancon's Funeral Home of Carencro for Alcide "A. J." Alleman, age 86, who passed away peacefully Easter Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Linda and son-in-law, Melvin Clark in Lafayette.
Celebrant for the mass will be Fr. Gil Dutel. Bess Trahan, soloist, will sing for the services. Scripture readings will be read by his two great-grandsons, Alex Andrepont and Jackson Andrepont. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette.

Mr. Alleman was a native of Church Point, having lived most of his life in Lafayette. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Exxon for 26 years. He was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. A veteran of the military, Mr. Alleman served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the Silver Star, given to him for his bravery in saving two soldiers' lives while under direct enemy fire in the vicinity of Bergstein, Germany.

Survivors include one son, Ted Alleman of Cankton; one daughter Linda Alleman Clark and her husband, Melvin of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Robin Clark Andrepont and her husband, Jim of Lafayette and Jayna Clark Barnhill and her husband, Chris of Lafayette; two great grandsons, Jackson Andrepont and Alex Andrepont and one great-granddaughter on the way, Eva Marie Barnhill; one brother, Rodney Alleman, of Carencro; and Gussie Guilbeau, his companion of seven years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Augusta Leger Alleman; and his parents, Jules Alleman and the former Oneia Aucoin, both natives of Church Point; one brother, Sidney "Joe" Alleman and two sisters, Dorothy Alleman Ortego and Amythe Alleman.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Clark, Jim Andrepont, Chris Barnhill, Rodney Alleman, Daniel Leger and Donald Theriot. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Jackson Andrepont and Alex Andrepont.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 North University Avenue, Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
