The Gettysburg Times December 11, 1967

Mrs. Alice D. Hershey, 91, formerly of E. Middle Street, died at the Pape Convalescent Home, Gettysburg R. 3, at 4:20 Saturday afternoon. She had been a guest at the home since 1963.
A native of McKnightstown, she was a daughter of the late Jacob F. and Eliza Lady Deardorff, and attended Flohr’s Lutheran Church, McKnightstown. At one time she was a school teacher in Franklin Twp.
Her husband, Charles A. Hershey, died in 1949.
Surviving are these children; Mrs. Anita H. Jones, Arlington, Va.; Mrs. J. R. Davidson, Belle Glade, Fla.; Lt. Col. J. R. Hershey, Gettysburg R. 2; Mrs. William Ridinger, Carbondale, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and these sisters and brothers; J. Gilbert Deardorff, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Walter Lott, Atlanta, Ga.; Associate Judge Clarence D. Deardorff, Cashtown; Mrs. V. S. Watson, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Homer Shaw, New Kensington; Mrs. Philip Bower, Cashtown, and Mrs. Lolita Charles, Cashtown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Bender Funeral Home, Carlisle St., with the Rev. Philip Bower officiating. Interment will be in Flohr’s Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family has suggested that it lieu of flowers donations be made to a favorite charity.
