Biographical sketch: "Benjamin Neal Hodges was born in Indiana, a son of Benjamin and Sarah Hodges. He married Sara Ann, daughter of Robert Smith, on 3 October 1844 in Marion County, Illinois. He is in the 1850 Census for Marion County, Iowa ; resided for a short time in Tazewelll County, Illinois and is in the 1860 Census for Schuyler County, Illinois. He was buried in the Gibson Cemetery in Bethel Township, McDonough County. His wife died January 14, 1913. Their known children : Mary, George Washington, Francis Marion, Sarah, Benjamin Franklin, Robert, Andrew, Emma Coplan, James Edward and Thomas J. . Benjamin Neal Hodges had 2 known sisters, Elizabeth Jane, wife of John Henry Owen of Macomb and Martha, wife of George W. Stephen, who died in Schuyler County, Illinois on September 16, 1864."
