The funeral for Earl Crawford Wise, 77, Mount Crawford, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Crawford United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Elinor Ritchie Dalton will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Mount Crawford Cemetery.
Mr. Wise died Sept. 15, 1996, at Life Care Center in New Market. He had been ill for several years.
He was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Ohio and was a son of the late George K. Wise and Daisy Dean Wise.
He moved to Mount Crawford from Ohio at an early age and lived in Mount Crawford most of his life. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was employed at Merck and Co. and was the former postmaster of Mount Crawford, retiring in 1984. Mr. Wise was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bridgewater, a former member of the Mount Crawford Ruritan Club and a member of Mount Crawford United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee, a member of the nominating committee and the United Methodist Men.
On June 29, 1949, he married Nancy L. Armentrout, who died March 30, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda w. Lilly, Bridgewater and Patricia W. Sayre, Nashville, N.C.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the home of Brenda Lilly, 105 Sunbright Drive, Bridgewater, at any time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Unit of Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
