Ellen C. Hockenberry, 84 , of 265 Evans City Road, Butler Township, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Mercer Township, July 15, 1916, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Eva Christine Foster Riding.
She had been a sales clerk at Butler Family Drug Store.
Mrs. Hockenberry was a Free Methodist.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John (Diane) Filer of Jackson Center, Mrs. Gerald (Beverly) Strain of Erie and Vicki Hochenberry of Butler; a son, Richard C. Hockenberry of Grove City; 10 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, William Riding of Butler and a sister, Shirley Skillman of New Castle.
Her first husband, Lamont Hockenberry, died March 25, 1958. Her second husband, Luther Hockenberry, died Nov. 29, 1983. A daughter, a grandson and several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
Friends of Ellen C. Hockenberry, who died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, will be received at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
