Lucy Jane (Bowles) Bennetsen, 98, of Rolla, formerly of Kirkwood, passed away Sunday, June 19, at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Rolla. Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21 at the Bowles Family Cemetery at Lanes Prairie, with interment to follow. Mrs. Bennetsen was born August 25, 1895, at Lanes Prairie, on the Bowles family farm to the late Dr. William Hearst Bowles and Ella Elizabeth (Kinsey) Bowles; she was the last of 8 children. She was a resident of Kirkwood, since 1940 and was employed with a major department store in the St. Louis area for many years. She attended the Methodist Church and was a poetry writer. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Martin, of Rolla, and several nieces and nephews. All arrangements were under the direction of Null & Son Funeral Home of Rolla.
