Funeral services for M-Sgt Harvey M. Jones, 41, former resident of Cochran, who died Tuesday afternoon in an auto-truck accident, were held Thursday afternoon at the Bethany Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. Lavella Waters and the Rev. W. M. Coe with burial in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Cochran Lodge of F&AM Masons were in charge of the commital services.
Mr. Jones was born and reared in Cochran, the son of the late Miletus Jones and Mrs. M. H. Jones. He had been in the Army for the past twenty-three years and was stationed at Camp Gordon, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rachel Wallace Jones; two sons, Harvey Jones Jr. and Donald Jones; one daughter, Paula Jones, all of Augusta; mother, Mrs. M. H. Jones of Cochran; three brothers, Hudson Jones, Algie Jones, and Delano Jones, all of Cochran.
