Ken McGuire, age 57, of East Grand Forks, MN and formerly of Oslo, MN, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home in East Grand Forks, MN.
Ken McGuire was born July 1, 1953 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of the late Edward and Virginia (Sass) McGuire. He attended schools in East Grand Forks, MN and Oslo, MN. The family later moved to Salem, Oregon and Ken graduated from Sarah High School in Salem. Following his education, he served with the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he was married to Carla Kastecha in 1968. Ken worked as an entrepreneur in the Salem area. He later worked as a security guard for Skanska Construction until his health forced him to retire. He returned to East Grand Forks, MN in 2004.
Ken was a member of the International Labor Union Local 320 of Salem, Oregon and the American Legion of Salem.
He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn McGuire, Portland, OR; his siblings: Ellen Smith, Salem, OR; Kathy Lillico, Salem, OR; Mary (Duane) Stavig, Turtle Lake, ND; Marge (Richard) Veralrud, Oslo, MN; Dennis McGuire, Salem, OR; Sandra (Melvin) Simonson, Oslo, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary, in December of 2006.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Oslo, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery of Grafton, ND.
