Edward J. McGuire was born Nov. 30, 1918, in Acton Township of Walsh County, N.D., the son of Walter & Monica McGurie. He grew up and later farmed in Acton Township before he moved to East Grand Forks in 1948. He retired from farming in the early 1960's and moved to Bigwoods Township of Marshall County, MN,. near Oslo. He married Virgina Sass July 7, 1941 in Oakwood, ND, they had 7 children.
