Mrs. Lizzie Benson, 78, resident of the Pittsburg community for 61 years, died at 7:05 o'clock last night at the home of a sister, Mrs. Joe Ross, Pittsburg, R.R. 4, after an illness of two years. Her condition had been critical two weeks. A resident of R. R. 4, Mrs. Benson had lived with the sister since October. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, June 19, 1874, and came to Kansas as a girl. After spending two years in Beloit, Kansas, she came to this community. Her husband, William I. Benson, died December 25, 1944. Other survivors include three brothers, James H. Watson of Leon, Iowa, John Watson of 915 South Broadway and George Watson of Pittsburg R. R. 4; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kickel of 508 North Walnut and Mrs. Hattie Redd of Pittsburg R.R. 4. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Ellsworth Chapel.
