MRS. CLARA A. MONGAR
Clara A. Mossbarger was born on May 25, 1857 in Ladoga, Ind., and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. L. Stover at Woodburn, Ia., after only a short illness, on Wednesday night, March 28, 1923.
While a small child she came with her parents to Clarke county, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood.
She was united in marriage to Thomas C. Mongar on Dec. 24, 1873 at Woodburn, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, all of whom are living. She was preceded in death by her beloved companion who died at his home in Lucas on Aug. 24, 1905.
She united with the Christian church at Union chapel in her early girlhood and later joined the Presbyterian church in Lucas. She was a consistent Christian all of her life and never so happy as when doing something for her children or friends.
She is survived by her four children, Josiah P. Mongar of Des Moines; Mrs. Bessie L. Agans of Albia; Mrs. Golda C. Stover of Woodburn; and George M. Mongar of Des Moines; also by one sister, Mrs. Sadie M. Beymer of Norfolk, Neb.; and ten grandchildren; besides a host of distant relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m., at the Presbyterian church by Rev. Wolf of Woodburn. Interment was made in Fry Hill cemetery.
