The daughter of Matthew Butcher and Elizabeth Jane Grubb, Lillie married John Henry Stewart on 19 Jun 1897 in Monroe County, Indiana.

He was born in 1852 and was the son of Andrew Jackson Stewart and Elvira "Elma" Meadows. John had been married previously to Nancy Ellen Johnson.

Lillie was a homemaker, and John worked in a stone quarry. They were the parents of at least 2 children. Their daughter, Letha, died in early childhood, and their son, William Clive, was eventually raised by Lillie's parents.

Lillie and John separated sometime before he died in Lawrence County, Indiana of neck cancer in 1910.

Children from first marriage: 1 daughter, 1 son.

Lillie married Clarence Henry Helferstay on 15 Feb 1915 in Marion County, Indiana. He was a native of West Virginia and worked as a boilermaker. He later was employed as an automobile and truck washer for a number of years.

Clarence died in 1940.

Children from second marriage: None.

Lillie lived until 1952. She died suffered a heart attack 2 weeks before her death and died of kidney failure at General Hospital in Indianapolis.

At the time of her death, Lillie was 69 years, 5 months and 26 days old.

She was buried next to her second husband on 11 Aug 1952.
