James R. Wallace, age 72, of Vista Drive, Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
He was retired from Holston Defense. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the 33rd Amor Division in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Frances Bruner Wallace; parents, Calvin and Hattie Wallace and brother, Andrew Wallace.
He is survived by two sons, James P. Wallace and wife Sonya, Jeffrey R. Wallace and wife Angela; grandchildren, Olivia, Shannon and Austin; sisters, Tillie Kerney of Kingsport, Mildred Stapleton of Kingsport, Genova Wallace of Church Hill, Iva Dale Poe of Sykesville, MD; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services followed in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fain Arnold officiating. Hawkins County Color Guard and Tennessee Army National Guard conducted military graveside services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
