Thomas was the first born child of Ellen Devereaux & Mike Mitchell. He was born in "Union occupied" Nashville, TN in Oct 1864...technically a Citizen of the CSA! Just two months later he would have heard the roar from the Battle of Nashville happening just outside of town!
