Samuel Weaver Wassam, 72, of Cherry Tree died Saturday, August 20, at his home after a short illness.
He was born in Green Township, Indiana County, March 18, 1883, a son of the late Valentine and Emily (Weaver) Wassam.
He was a member of the Cherry Tree I.O.O.F., No. 417 for the past 45 years and was one of the oldest members of the lodge. He also was a member of the Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by one brother, Charles E Wassam of Starford, and six nieces, Mrs Nellie Calhoun, Indiana; Mrs Mary Johnson, Florida; Mrs Martha Kerr, Starford; Mrs Irene Kimmel, Wheatland; Mrs Pauline Smith and Mrs Dorothy Smith, Clymer.
Friends are being received at the McCracken Funeral Home in Cherry Tree until the time of the services. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home at 2pm Tuesday, August 23, 1955. Rev John Sass will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cherry Tree I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
