Lyle C. Arand
Lyle C. Arand, 83, St. Marys, Kansas, died Monday, January 24, 2000, at a St. Marys nursing home.
He was born August 17, 1916, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles and Lena Uhlrig (Arand). He was raised in the Paxico area and graduated from Paxico High School in 1934. He moved to St. Marys from the farm in 1992.
Mr. Arand farmed until 1992 in the Paxico area on the family farm that was settled in 1876.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and he had served on the church board. He also had served on the school board for School District No. 33 and on the Kaw Township Board. He also had been a 4-H leader.
He married Ruth Ross on October 8, 1941 in St. Marys, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Arand, manhattan, Kansas; two sons, Larry Arand, Belvue and Ronald Arand, Wamego, Kansas; and three grandsons.
Mr. Arand was preceded in death by an infant son.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, Kansas. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery south of Belvue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
