Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Hayes Funeral Home for Mrs. Julia Smith Peret, 56, former Centralia resident, who was residing in Caldwell, Idaho at the time of her death. The Rev. Glen L. Argo officiated. Pallbearers were Elza Lochard, Martin Langsdorf, Walter Smith, Raymond Colwell, William Horalek, and Hermand Schmidt. A men's quartet, Earl Roberts, George Pollman, Emet Hightower and George Young sang two musical numbers accompanied by Mrs. George Young.

Mrs. Peret was born at the home of her parents, Edwin and Emma Smith, 8 miles southwest of Centralia Sept. 6, 1896 and went to District School there. When she was 12 the family moved to Centralia and she attended school here for a time, later working as a clerk in one of the general stores. She lived for a time in Wyoming, and after in Utah where she became a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints of Salt Lake City, and aided in the welfare department of that church. For a time she lived in Atchison and was married in 1950 to Charles Peret. She then moved to Caldwell, Idaho where she died December 14, 1952.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Peret of Caldwell; her aging mother, Mrs. Emma Smith of Atchison, her brother, Charles M. Smith of Billings, Montana; her sister, Mrs. Jennie Labbe of Onaga, her twin brother, Wm. M. Smith of Atchison, and a half sister, Mrs. Mollie R. Thornton of Hutchinson, also many nephews and nieces.
