Jacob SHOUP emigrated from Wurttemberg, Germany, on the 4th day of July, 1834, to America. His family consisted of his wife and one son. No passenger lists are available prior to 1850 as they were destroyed during WWII per a personal German friend of Sherlocks Cousin.

1850 Census-Donegal, Butler, PA: Jacob was a farmer. Jacob 44 & Catherine 48, Catherine Myers 8 (apparently the daughter of Jacob Myers who lived on the farm next to the Shoup family farm and may have been visiting daughter Mary Schoup), John Schoup 21, George Schoup 15, Catharine Schoup 10, Mary Schoup 7. Surname was a variation of today's Shoup.

1 Sep 1856 - Becomes a Naturalized Citizen of the US. Denounced the King of Wurttemburg. Last name was written as Shoop, but he didn't sign the document.

Wife, Mary, died in 1858. Jacob remarries on 12 Nov 1860 in Butler County to Sabina Biederman.
