Alta May Rhodes was born February 25, 1913 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Thomas Jefferson and Margaret Ada (Long) Pate. She passed from this life April 16, 2011 in Antlers, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. Alta was a member of Rebecca's Lodge and the First Baptist Church since 1948. She worked as a clerk for Halley Drug Store and as a Nurse for the hospital from 1969 till age 70. Alta enjoyed playing dominoes and gardening. Her goal in life was to help people. Alta was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas & Margaret Pate; eight sisters; two brothers; a son: Milton Rhodes; and the father of her children: Lee Rhodes. She is survived by two daughters: Tommy Allen & husband Gene of Antlers, Oklahoma and Suellen Young & husband Lionel of Wilburton, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Leigh McCollough & husband Rick, Vicki Coggburn & husband Carter, Mike Allen & wife Jill, Richard L. Young, Jr. & wife Luly, Ramona Hensley & husband Jim, Eddie Rhodes and Raylene Rhodes; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a brother: Orval Pate of Durant, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews that had a great deal of affection for her; as well as many other relatives and friends. Graveside Service: 11:00 AM ~ Tuesday, April 19, 2011 ~ Oddfellows Cemetery. Music: "You Raise Me Up" ~ "I'll Be" ~ "I'm Movin' On" ~ "My Daughter's Eyes". Interment: Oddfellows Cemetery ~ Antlers, Oklahoma.
