SERVICES WEDNESDAY FOR ADAM BRANNING
Funeral services for Adam Branning, 72, will be held Wednesday, April 21 at the Sellergren Funeral Home. he died Sunday, April 13, at Murphy Memorial Hospital after 6 weeks illness.
The Rev. Raynold Lindwall will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Music will be by Lorenz Mellgren, vocalist accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Fridolph at the organ. Floral committee members are Mrs. Vernon Stocksleger, Mrs. Victor Bergren, and Mrs. Ragnar Farnum. Bearers are William Lane, Dallas Bills, Harlan Ebert, Clem Woods, Ragnar Farnum, and James Good.
The son of Henry and Katherine Branning, he was born September 15, 1881 in Russia and came to this country in 1889, settling in Red Oak. He was a farmer. He was married in 1906 to Katherine Wagner, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Amelia Bergren of Omaha; two sons, Gilbert of Omaha and Frank of Red Oak; 5 grandchildren; three brothers, Jake, John, and Luther Branning, all of Red Oak.
A son, Adam Jr., was killed during World War 2.

He died April 18, 1954 in the Murphy Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa of carcinoma of upper end of stomach, Oscar Alden, M.D., burial April 21, 1954 in Evergreen Cemetery, Sellergren in charge.
Adam Brenning (also Branning) (1881-1952) was born in Russia. He came to this country in l892 with his family. In 1906 he married Katherine Wagner (1887-1980) Katherine was born in Kutter, a Volga River village, and came to the United States to live with the Brenning family. It was planned that she would marry Henry Jr. but she choose Adam to be her husband. They farmed in West Township in 1910, and continued to farm throughout their life. On retirement they moved to South Hill in Red Oak. Their children were Amelia, Gilbert, Frank and Adam Jr. Adam Jr. died during WorldWar II. A Red Oak descendant is Catherine (Katie) Fisher. (Katherine Wagner Branning b. in Kutter, Saratov, Russia 7 June l887, d. 6 October l980 Red Oak. Father was John Wagner, Mother Katherine. Came to Red Oak to work for Branning family, married Adam 1 September l906.)
