W. H. Baird died at the home of his son, Frank Baird, on the old homestead Oct. 29, 1904 aged 74 years 6 months and 25 days. He was born in Ohio, March 4, 1830. His father had come from the state of Vermont. His early days were spend in a small place near the city of Erie, Pennsylvania, where when he was 21 years of age he became acquainted with and married Miss Adelia A. French. e worked for sometime in his father's woolen factory, but in the year 1854 he moved west settling at Dowagiac, Michigan. Here he lived until late in the year 1856 when he came to Wisconsin locating on the farm in the town of River Falls. His wife and five children survive him, and one Orvilla, died in childhood, and one Pearl who became Mrs. G. A. Taylor died a few years ago.
Mr. Baird was a man of intelligence and integrity, an indulgent father and a good neighbor.
The funeral was held Monday Oct. 31, from the old homestead, Rev. D. B. Spencer conducting the services.
