A.G. Rimer, age 71, of Edina, Missouri passed away December 15, 1998 in Rochester, Minnesota.
The eldest child of Talmage D. and Virginia Emma Hudson Rimer, he was born on September 11, 1927 in the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.
On January 7, 1951 at Edina, Missouri he was united in marriage to Bebe Ann Prebe.
He is survived by his wife, Bebe Ann of Edina; three children, Alan G. Rimer and his wife JoAnn of Brashear, Missouri; Mark E. Rimer of Edina, Missouri and Giga A. Rimer Draper and her husband Darren of Puerto Rico; four grandchildren, Chance Hudson Rimer and A.J. Rimer of Brashear and Dax D. and Macy J. Draper of Puerto Rico; one sister Mary Margaret Goodwin and her husband Richard of rural Edina; several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Rimer.
A.G. grew up on a farm west of Novelty, Missouri and often rode his horse to Locust Hill where he attended rural school. He graduated from the Novelty High School in 1945 and was a graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois in 1955.
A.G. served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from October 27, 1950 to November 12, 1952 having served two years and fifteen days. He was a graves registration tehnician stationed in Japan.
At a young age A.G. worked with his grandmother Mary Ellen Hudson in the Hudson Funeral Home in Edina and later became a partner in the firm in 1952 and changed the name to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
A.G. comes from a long line of Funeral Directors and Coroners. His grandparents, J.W. and Mary Ellen Hudson were both Funeral Directors and Embalmersand both were coroners of Knox County with Mrs. Hudson having been one of the first lady coroners in the United States. In 1955 A.G. was appointed coroner of Knox County and has served as coroner for the past forty-three years.
In 1960 he purchased the Easley Funeral Homes in Hurdland and Brashear, Missouri, in 1972 built the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel and Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri, and in 1990 purchased the Coder Funeral Home in LaBelle, Missouri.
The first ambulance service available to Knox County residents was operated for many years by A.G. until the Ambulance District was in operation in May 1975.
A.G. was a member of the First Christian Church in Edina, a member of the Knox City American Legion Post #358. the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #4822 of Edina, Missouri. A member of the Edina Masonic Lodge #291 A.F & A.M. where he would have been a 50 year member January 9, 1999, a member of Matilda Chapter #411 Order of the Eastern Star of Edina, the York Rite Masonic Bodies, Moila Shrine Temple of St. Joseph, Missouri, El Kadir Shrine lub of Kirksville, Missouri Peace Officers Association, Missouri Coroners and Medical Examiners Association, National Selected Morticians, Flying Funeral Directors of America, Loyal Order of the Moose #1751 of Kirksville and Northeast Missouri Antique Car Club.
A.G. touched alot of lives dring the years he traveled around the world to fill the assignments as a relief mortician for the Aramco Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
A.G. loved flying his plane, enjoyed horses, motorcycles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Since an early age, A.G. was dedicated to the funeral profession, he lved the business and was active up to the last day. He had many friends and loved visiting and spending time with each one. Even though he wil be sadly missed by his family and friends we will always cheris the fond memories of such a great man.

Masonic services will be held Friday December 18, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. conducted by the Edina Lodge #291 A.F. & A.M.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 19, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Missouri. Officating will be Dr. Dale Jorgenson, Reverend Darrell Draper and Reverend Dewayne Wellborn. Eulogies wil be given by Larry Phillips and Colin Campbell. Interment will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri. Casket bearers will be Dud Gillaspy, Larry Phillips, Joe Young, Delbert Rourke, Colin Campbell and Pete Greening. Honorary bearers wil be all Present and Past Employees of Hudson-Rimer Funeral Homes.
