Larry W. Hand, 60, Altoona, died early Friday morning at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert and Catharine (Bowers) Hand. He married Susan L. Hemcher on Jan. 17, 1976, at Grace United Methodist Church in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; two children: Eric of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Melissa Kennedy of Altoona; two grandchildren: Devon and Aliyah Kennedy of Altoona; nine brothers and sisters; as well as a large extended family.
Larry was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He retired from Commercial Envelope as a machine mechanic after more than 25 years of service and previously had worked at Conrail as a certified welder. He was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church.
Larry enjoyed reading and learning of new and developing technologies. He loved his dogs and especially loved spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata (www.maukandyates.com). A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, the Rev. Evelyn Madison officiating.
