Son of Enoch Griffith/Griffiths and Carolina "Caroline" Lloyd. Brother to Mr. Walter Emerson Griffith (twin), Mamie Bell Griffith (twin), Mr. Edward Enoch Griffith, Anna Griffith, and 8 other unknown siblings. 7 of these unknown siblings most likely died as infants.

George was a locomotive engineer for the L&N Railroad, as was his brother Edward. George married Chloe Bell Gross about 1912 most likely in Bell County, Kentucky. Together they had 2 children as follows: Georgia Lee Griffith and an Vivian Francis Griffith, who died at 8 months old from heart failure.

George was a member of the Free Masons and died in Middlesboro, Kentucky. His body was transported by L&N Railroad back to Corbin, Kentucky for burial there. The Free Masons handled the funeral arrangements.
