OBITUARY
The Rochester Sentinel

Monday, January 30, 1956

R. Joe BAKER, 60, R.R. 2, Rochester, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital, where he had been a patient since Saturday morning. Mr. Baker had been seriously ill since Thursday. For the past number of years, he owned and operated a farm adjacent to the southeast shore of Lake Manitou.

He was born March 31, 1895, at Wagoner Station in Miami county, Ind. His parents were Levi and Mattie (WYRICK) BAKER. On June 16, 1917, he was married to Ruth M. SHEETS at Plymouth. Mr. Baker had been a resident of Rochester and vicinity since 1920. He was a member of Rochester Masonic Order.

Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Betty Jane [BAKER], both at home; his mother, Mrs. Mattie BAKER, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Ethel M. CAIN, Indianapolis; a brother, Virgil BAKER, Fulton, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST Wednesday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The rites will be in charge of the Masonic Order and burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.

The family requests the omission of flowers, but anyone so desiring may make donations to the Crippled Childrens Society of the Masonic Home through the Rochester Masonic lodge. The body rests at the funeral home where friends may call after 5:30 p.m. Monday.
