John Wesley Polson, son of Elisha and Elizabeth Polson, was born in Adams County, Iowa, north of Prescott, April 22, 1880, and departed this life at his home in Prescott January 18, 1947, aged 66 years, 8 months, and 26 days. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Mt. Zion neighborhood and on April 10, 1904, he was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Sears. To this union was born one son, Forest J. Polson, of Prescott. Besides his son he is survived by his faithful wife and his aged mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Polson, his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Forest Polson, three sisters, Mrs. Elva Wood of Denver, Colo, Mrs. Mabel Packenham of Prescott and Mrs. Daisy Lobb of Omaha, Nebr, also five grandchildren, Ilene, Dolores, Max, Lavon and Glen Polson, and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, also one brother, Ray Polson, who died two years ago.
Mr. Polson's home has been in this vicinity all his life. He and his wife moved to Prescott from the farm five years ago to make their home. It was a shock to everyone to learn that our old friend had passed on, and it is with saddened hearts we realize that we have lost one of our best friends and citizens. Johnny Polson was a friend to all, always friendly and accommodating and kind to everyone. His home has long been known for its hospitality. His familiar face and kindly greeting will long be remembered. His wife and aged mother and all his loved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss.
