William Morris married Sarah "Sallie" Hedger about 1791.

Some researchers say the middle name was Bryant, some say middle initial was "O.". An elderly family member has stated that the middle name was NOT Bryant, and the first Wm Bryant Morris was that of the grandson, son of Harrison Morris shown below.

William Morris Graveyard, Woodford County, Kentucky
The oldest known Morris family graveyard in Woodford County, Kentucky, is that of William Morris located on the M. C. Hartley farm, which is on the north side of Delaney Road between Kentucky 33 and Highway 169. It is situated in a clump of trees on the west side of a farm road about 6/10 of a mile north of Delaney Road.

The 1/4 acre tract was reserved when William Morris' farm was sold by his executors after his death in November, 1829. See Woodford County Deed Book M, page 466 and Deed Book O, page 324.

I was taken to this graveyard in July, 1960 by Mr. & Mrs. E. L. Colcord who, at that time, lived at the junction of U.S. 60 and Shannon's Run Road. Mrs. Colcord was Josephine Morris, a great, great granddaughter of William Morris.
The stones in this old burying ground are limestone and are very badly eroded. When I first visited there, the initials "WM" and NOV 1829" were legible on the stone marking the grave of William Morris. The letters "ME" were legible on the top side of a stone marking a grave which is the second to the south of William Morris's. From the stones still in place it is evident that at least 12 persons were buried there, but no inscription has been found on any stone, except the two mentioned above. An old resident of the area said that fifty or more persons are buried there, but this cannot be verified.
