Rev. Arms was a veteran of the U. S . Army serving during World War II in the Pacific. For 51 years he was a faithful minister of the gospel pastoring several local Baptist churches including Hopewell Baptist in Whitfield County, Georgia, Cedar Springs, Shiloh in Ocoee, Mine City in Ducktown, and Oak Grove in Benton. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist church.

His parents were the Rev. W. D. Arms and Robbie Quinn,and his siblings were James O., Paul, Wallace, Marshall, Boyd, Gene, Billy and Lorene (Brown.)

Ernest was married to Lavern MClure and their children were Ernest Lee, Marie Williams, Sue Moore and Jerry.

Officiating at the memorial service were the Revs. W. L. Shipman, Wayne Cooper and DeWayne White.
