Came to Edina 26 Years Ago—Was a Blacksmith—Burial Friday.

Louis Alber, 86 years old, a native of Germany, but for many years a resident of Knox County, died at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home here. He had been in failing health for some years, but was seriously ill since Aug. 23, death resulting from a complication of disease.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in the new Catholic cemetery, beside the grave of his wife, who died fourteen years ago.
Three children survive: Otto Alber of southeast of town, and Misses Mary and Anna Alber at home. There are six grandchildren.
Mr. Alber was born Aug. 18, 1839, in Tyrol, Germany. He came to this country after the Civil War, and was married at St. Patrick, Mo., to Miss Johanna Schmid, who with one of their four children, an infant son, is dead. Mr, and Mrs. Alber first lived in Quincy and other places in Illinois, then came to Knox County about thirty-six years ago.
The home was on the farm, southeast of town, where the son now lives. Here he had a blacksmith shop, and he also opened one in the east part of town, when he and Mrs. Alber moved to Edina twenty-six years ago.
Mrs. Rudolph Deutchman of Lancaster, a niece of Mr. Alber, is here for the funeral.
