ANNA M. SCOTT, 82, EDUCATOR ACTIVE IN MANY CIVIC GROUPS

AUSTIN - Anna Marie Scott, a longtime Fort Worth resident and educator who was active in civic groups, died Monday at an Austin care center. She was 82.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Walden Funeral Home in Austin. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Harveson & Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Mrs. Scott, a native of Waxahachie, lived in Fort Worth for 70 years before moving to Austin last year. She and her husband, John Paul Scott Jr., owned and operated Scott Awning Co., which his father founded in 1892, from 1935 until 1972. Mr. Scott died in 1982.

Mrs. Scott received her bachelor's degree in English and speech-drama in 1929 and and a master's degree in speech-communication in 1964 from Texas Christian University. She taught first and second grades in public and private schools, high schools, TCU, University of Texas at Arlington and at Tarrant County Junior College, where she was professor of speech and chairman of the speech department.

Mrs. Scott also coached debate teams and taught diction privately. She directed little theater groups, reviewed books and plays for more than 60 social and service clubs and taught and directed Shakespearean plays.
She also was editor of Texas Junior College Teachers Association newsletter and was parliamentarian for many groups.

Mrs. Scott also was an interior decorator and real estate broker.

She was a former officer and member of many clubs, including theWoman's Club of Fort Worth, the Etta Newby Club, Penelope Club, Woman's Shakespeare Club, Downtown Lady Lions, American Institute of Parliamentarians, National Association of Parliamentarians, Girls Service League and the Clio Club.

Mrs. Scott was a 62-year member of the Christian Scientist Church and was a reader and former president. She was a member of Second Church of Christ Scientist in Fort Worth.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the world headquarters of the Christian Science Church, the Mother Church, 175 Huntington Ave., Boston, Mass. 02115, or to one of the clubs of which she was a member.

Survivors: Son, John Paul Scott III of Austin; two daughters, Judy Johnson of Austin and Mary Anna Scott-Ice of Fort Worth; sister, Marguerite Dews of Austin; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
