George S Brown was born December 1854 in Singhampton, Ontario, Canada. He married Helena Howell 18 May 1884 in San Luis Obispo. They homesteaded in Shandon in Shandon (when it was called Starkey). Their daughter died in 1890 and they created the Spring District Cemetery Company that became the Shandon Cemetery (as a company with their neighbors). George and Lena are buried in the Brown Lot.
