GEORGE W. SWANER
LONDON, KY, September 25
George W. Swaner, one of the most widely known citizens of Laurel County is dead at his home here following an illness of 25 years, the last 10 of which had kept him confined to a wheel chair.
George Swaner was born in Johnson City, TN 72 years ago, and came to this section with his widowed mother and brothers and sisters when he was about three.
He had been constantly in the public service since 1905, when he was elected assessor, despite a stroke which had left him unable to walk. He had served the county as jailer, sheriff and the town of London as police judge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Scoville Swaner, and 10 children.
