MRS. L. S. CLOTHIER
Mrs. L. S. Clothier departed this life at the family home near Lucas, Iowa on April 3, 1919, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Ed. Clothier, on Sunday forenoon at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Evan Morgan, of Lucas, after which the remains were taken to Humeston for interment, and where a brief service was conducted at the grave by Rev. Ray Eckerson, pastor of the Congregational church.
Mary A. Wells was born in Indiana on November 29, 1844. In early childhood she emigrated with her parents to Hancock county, Ill., where she grew to young womanhood and where she was married to L. S. Clothier on October 13, 1868.
To this union two sons and three daughters were born, of whom two preceded her in death, Viola, at the age of 13 years, and Mrs. Josephine E. Black, aged 25 years. Those who with the husband survive are Edward F. and Albert, both of Lucas county, and Mrs. Myrtle McNay, of Pacific, Mo. In addition to these bereaved ones four brothers, one sister, and nine grandchildren are also living.
In her early married life the family came to Iowa where they resided on a farm in Wayne county, near Humeston, until eighteen years ago, since which time their home has been in Lucas county.
Mrs. Clothier was a noble woman and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Her demise will be deplored by a host of friends who will extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing husband and children and other relatives.
