MRS. HARP OF JOHNSON COMMUNITY RECEIVES HONOR
She Is Awarded Reading Certificate From Library Commission
Mrs. T. Y. Harp, of the Johnson community, has just received a reading certificate from the Louisiana Library Commission. This certificate was awarded Mrs. Harp for having completed a reading course outlines by the library commission. Although the reading of only twelve(12) books was necessary for the certificate, Mrs. Harp has read seventy-five (75) books during the year. She read books on a variety of subjects among which were books on travel, history, biography, psychology, sociology, science, art and religion.

Mrs. Harp says that the library commission offers a wonderful opportunity for rural women to improve themselves through reading. The services of the Louisiana Library Commission may be had by anyone who applies for it. The only charge for the use of the books loaned is the return postage. Mrs. Harp is an active home demonstration club woman. She is president of the Johnson Home Demonstration Club and local leader for the 4_H Club at Johnson.

MRS. T. Y. HARP OF MER ROUGE SUCCUMBS
Mrs. T. Y. Harp, 74, died at 2 pm Friday in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. A resident of Mer Rouge for the past 50 years, she was a native of Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Harp was a member of the Methodist Church and the Mer Rouge Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and was active in the affairs of both organization.

Mrs. Harp is survived by her husband:
Thomas Young Harp, Sr.
Two daughters:
Dorothy Maude Harp (Mrs. William Thomas Blackwell) of Mer Rouge
Laura Jane Harp (Mrs. James W. Waters) of Shreveport
Her son:
Thomas Young Harp, Jr. of La Rose Cut Off, Louisiana
Her brother:
Walter G. Degelow of Clayton, Missouri
Six grandchildren and one great grandchild
