Laura Jane Harp was born July 29, 1921 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana to the late Thomas Young (T.Y.) Harp and Alberta Degelow Harp. She passed away March 4, 2013, surrounded by her family, at the Oak Woods Home in Mer Rouge, Louisiana.
Mrs Waters is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Captain James W. Waters; and her siblings, Dorothy Harp Blackwell and Thomas Young (T.Y.) Harp, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Bennett and husband, Ronnie Bennett; two granddaughters, Julie Bass and her husband, Tommy Bass and Melissa Haskins; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Waters nephews.

MISS LAURA JANE HARP MARRIES JAMES WATERS
In a candlelight ceremony, Miss Laura Jane Harp, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Young Harp, Sr., was married to Mr. James Waters, son of Mr. & Mrs. A. M. Waters of Alexandria. The ceremony was performed March 15th, 1954, in the home of the bride's parents and the immediate families of the couple present. Rev. F. M. Durham, pastor of the Methodist Church in Mer Rouge officiated the ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. William Thomas Blackwell. Mr. G. M. Waters of Monroe served as Best Man for his brother. Following the ceremony, a reception was held for members of the family. The couple will reside in Shreveport where Mr. Waters is employed by Western Auto.
