Richard Thomas Schneider, 71, of Burlington, died at 6:15p.m. Monday, March 4, 2002 at Gensis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Born January 20, 1931 in St. Francis Hospital, Burlington, he was the son of Clarence Fred and Margaurite Janet McMahon Schneider. On February 3, 1951 he married Melva Joan Hart at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She died October 8, 1992.
Mr. Schneider was a journeyman electrician for 50 years and will be awarded the 50 year pin by the IBEW. He was a member of Sts John and Paul Catholic Church and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Cascade Boating Assoc., Ed's Cascade Fishing and Hunting Club, Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Moose and AARP. He was an ardent outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School.
Survivors include five sons; Richard G. (Jean) Schneider of Bettendorf, IA, Phillip C. (Lora) Schneider of Burlington, Donald J. (Sandy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Edwin J. (Rene) Schneider of Budapest, Hungary, and Brian L. (Lois) Schneider of Barnveld, WI.; three daughters, Jeanne K. Smith of Germantown, MD, Jennifer S. (Darryl) Lenz of Smithshire, IL and Rebecca A. (Ronald) Cook of West Burlington, IA. 19 grandchildren, one great grandchild. One sister, Catherine (Terry)Fleming of Denver, CO, one Brother in law, John "Bud" (Mary) Hart of Burlington and one Sister in law, Connie (Mike) Miller of Laytonsville, MD.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brandon Schneider.
The mass of Christian burial for Mr. Schneider will be Friday, March 8th at 10:00a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf will be the celebrant. Friends may call after 8:00a.m. Thursday, March 7th at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends following a Christian wake at 6:30p.m. until 8:30p.m. A memorial for the Brand Shane Schneider Education Memorial Fund for Notre Dame High School has been established.
