James Elihu McDonald
James Elihu McDonald passed away at the Shady Lane Rest Home where he had been a resident for a year. He was eighty four years of age.
He was the youngest son of John and Martha McDonald, born on March 18, 1894 in Iowa. He spent his younger years and attended school at Clear Lake, South Dakota. As a young man, he moved with his family to Minnesota.
On November 26, 1919, he and Marie Todd were united in marriage in Wadena. They farmed in the Sebeka area except for eight years when they were in Minneapolis. He was a member of the Nimrod Christian Missionary Alliance Church and also a member of the School Board of old District #48. He was a devoted husband and father; and a good friend to all.
His wife passed away in 1974. His parents, brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.
Left to mourn his passing are two sons, Don of Minneapolis and Wilbur of Sebeka, a foster son, Douglas Hartfiel; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 8, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cardini Funeral Chapel, Sebeka, Minnesota, with Rev. Arnold Frei officiating. Hymns were sung by Rev. Greg Brendmoen accompanied by Mrs. Oray Tangen on the organ.
The pallbearers were Jim, Jon and Steve McDonald, Joe Marus, Arnold Steinke and Ernest Kleinke. Interment will be at West Lyons Cemetery, Lyons Twp., Minnesota. Arrangements were with the Cardini Funeral Home, Sebeka, Minnesota.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral of Jim McDonald were: Don, Jean, Jon and Jim McDonald and Lynn Shockley from Golden Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Seeley of Bovey; Maude Kirby of Humbird; Florence Senske, St. Paul, Margaret Walker, Minneapolis; Dennis Flanagan, Richfield; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McDonald, Pengilly; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Messer, Bertha; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Buchanan, Wadena; and Mrs. Walter Schulz and family from Minneapolis.
