Fred James White, age 81, of Oologah, OK passed from this life on Monday morning, April 4, 2011 at his residence in Oologah, OK. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Fred was born on December 23, 1929 in Coweta, OK to Luther and Mary (Howard) White. He was raised in the Coweta area and graduated from Coweta High School. He then attended Northeastern University, Southeastern University and Tulsa University where he received his Master's Degree in Education. Fred and Wanda McMillian were married on July 3, 1950 in Tulsa, OK. He began his teaching career at Coweta Public Schools and he worked there for 4 years. Fred then worked at the State Capitol as a public affairs secretary for 3 years and then went to work as a teacher at Owasso Public Schools for 10 years. Fred then went to work at as a principal at Tiawah Public Schools for 13 years until he decided to retire in 1991. In 2001, he and Wanda moved to the Oologah area from Grand Lake. Fred was an elder at Garnett Church of Christ in Tulsa. His hobbies included fishing, bowling and he was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.

Fred is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Wanda White of the home; 2 daughters, Connie Douglas and her husband, Larry McCoy of Broken Arrow, OK and LeAnn Damewood and her husband, John of Oologah, OK; 3 brothers, Orvind White of Broken Arrow, OK, Shirl White of Miami, OK and Bob White of Miami, OK; 10 grandchildren, Chris Douglas, Chad and Susan Douglas, Coy Douglas, Sean and Jenni Callahan, Shane and Julie Callahan, Alex Damewood, Austin Damewood, Amanda Damewood, L.J. and Amber Stone and Charity Stone; 8 great grandchildren, Dustin Douglas, Joshua Douglas, Jordan Douglas, Micheal Callahan, Megan Callahan, Cade Callahan, Courtney Callahan and Blake Stone.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Sharon Stone and 5 brothers.

Funeral services for Fred will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Garnett Church of Christ in Tulsa, OK with Marvin Phillips and Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Family and friends may send condolences to the family online at www.wrightfh.net.
