A note from his daughter, Michelle Berry, is as follows:

My father, William Oliver Berry, II, received an Associate's Degree at Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock, Texas. Previous to this he was the Administrator of Pediatrics at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock after moving from Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was the Administrator of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics. Previous to this my father spent 26 year in the United States Army. We lived in California, South Dakota; Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas; Little Rock Arkansas as an advisor to the National Guard; Lubbock, Texas; Karlshruhe, Germany; Ashafenburg, Germany; Orleans France; Norfolk, England. My father was stationed in Korea during two tours of duty with our family (during the Korean War and during peace time).

My father lost his mother, Esther Louise Wagner, at age 11. He went to live with various relatives after this time. My grandfather married a Cora Dell Gore, and a Pearl G. Hendricks after Esther passed away. My father joined the United States Army at age 17. He also worked in some large ship yards welding on the east coast.

My father enjoyed participating in/watching car racing, photography, traveling, being with his family. He loved to listen to Henry Mazzini and Benny Goodman. He came to love opera after marrying my mother.
