One of Sandersville's Noblest Women Passes Away
The people of Sandersville were shocked last Wednesday morning by the announcement that Mrs. Sparks had died suddenly at her home in this city. For the past few weeks she had been a sufferer, but was apparently improving, and her family and friends hoped that she would recover. The evening previous to her death, she and her husband took tea with a party of friends at the home of Col. and Mrs. George C. Evans, and she appeared to be bright and cheerful. Just before daylight Wednesday morning, she found it difficult to breathe and within a short time her spirit had winged its flight to Heaven.
Mrs. Sparks was a faithful and active member of the Baptist church and Sunday School, and she always took pleasure in doing any work which would advance the cause of her Master. She was a consecrated Christian woman, and her life was filled with good deeds. She leaves a devoted husband and six children, Mrs. J.W. Aldred of Davisboro, Miss Mamie Sparks and Mr. Battle Sparks and Mr. Aylsie Sparks of Buford, GA, Mr. Andrew Sparks of the Technological school in Atlanta, and Mr. T.M. Sparks of Chalker, and also many relations, to all of whom the deepest sympathy of many friends is extended in their bereavement.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. Chamblee, who paid a beautiful tribute to the memory of this good woman whose earthly career had come to a close, after which the body was laid to rest in the city cemetery, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.
