Joseph E. Lawrence, 64, 127 E. Middle St., for 30 years an employe at the Gettysburg Furniture Factory, died this morning at 1 o'clock in the University Hospital, Baltimore, where he had been a patient for nine days. He had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Lawrence was a native of Adams County and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lawrence.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Gettysburg.
Surviving are his wife, the former Beulah Brown, three sons, Paul, McSherrystown; Earl, 216 Highland Ave; and Ralph, at home and two brothers Vincent, W. Middle St. and George, Gettysburg.
Funeral arranements are being made by the Peters Funeral Home.
