Mrs. Harvey F. Eichler, well
known and beloved resident of
Genoa passed away Wednesday
morning at the Sherman Hospital
in Elgin, where she had been
a patient for three weeks. Mrs.
Eichler had been in failing health
since undergoing surgery this past
May.
Iona Lester was the daughter
of the late William and Hattie
Herrick Lester and was born in
Armour, S. D. on June 9, 1891.
At the age of 18 years she
moved to Marengo and made her
home with her sister, Lois Bording.
Later attended Rockford
Business College at which time
she resided in that city.
On June 9, 1915 she was united
in marriage to Harvey Eickler of
Genoa. All of their married life
was spent on their farm, north of
Genoa, moving to town just this
past April.
The deceased was an active
member of the Genoa Methodist
church. She was also a member
of the Ney Grange, the Ney Aid
Society, the P. E. O. Sisterhood
and of the Thimble Club.
She is survived by her husband,
a son, Donald who operates
the home farm and a daughter,
Mrs. Helen Benson of Earlville.
A stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth
Lester of Elgin, four
grand children and five sisters
and two brothers also survive.
Funeral rites are to be conducted
on Saturday afternoon
at 2 o'clock from the Cooper
Funeral Home in Genoa with the
Rev. R. E. Bethards of the Methodist
church in that city officiating.
Burial will be in the Genoa
cemetery. Friends may call
at Funeral Home until time of
the services.
