Lois Marian Bertrand was born on March 11, 1929 to Lloyd "Frenchy" and Emma (Kuether) Bertrand in St. Paul, Minnesota. The family relocated to Butte, Montana when Lois was very young. She attended schools in Butte, including Butte High and the Butte Business College.

She married Elmer Bert Wilson on May 7, 1950, and following his death in 1991, married John E. Carlin in 1996. He also preceded her in death in 2001.

Lois worked for the Montana Highway Department, as well as, the Internal Revenue Service, Montana Power and several area banks and government agencies. She had incredible typing skills, was an impeccable homemaker, had an incredible wisdom with financial matters and was at her best when she was taking care of her husbands. She loved her grandchildren and was a retired senior volunteer as well as a volunteer with Our Lady of The Rockies.

She died on her 82nd birthday Friday evening, March 11, 2011, at Marquis Vintage Suites with her daughters at her side.
