PARIS H. WALKER
Paris Hayden Walker was born Oct. 6, 1868, at Walker, Missouri, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram F. Walker, who were farmers there, and for whom the town was named.

The family moved to the San Saba country when he was but eight years old, in 1876. He finished his schooling here and at the age of 17 engaged in ranching and followed that work throughout the remainder of his active life, retiring about eight years ago when his failing eyesight forced his giving up all active duties, although he continued ownership of livestock until his death.

Two years ago his health began to fail and he became progressively worse in recent months. He passed away at his home in San Saba at 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening, Oct. 22nd, 1949. Funeral services were held for him at the First Methodist Church of San Saba Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by the pastor,Rev. Charles Nixon. Interment was at the City Cemetery. The large attendance and the many beautiful floral tributes attested the esteem in which this beloved pioneer citizen was held.

On Oct. 12,1897, he was united in marriage, to Miss Fannie L. Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Owen, San Saba pioneers.

Born to them was one son, John Lee Walker, who was engaged with his father in the livestock business for a number of years and subsequently has engaged in ranching and livestock trading on his own here.

There are no immediate survivors beside the widow and son, his four brothers and two sisters having passed on a number of years ago. Quite a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends also survive.

Mr. Walker was a regular attendant of the San Saba Methodist Church until his eyesight failed.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Worth Doran, Harry Doran, Hilly Walker, Travis Walker, J. W. Patterson, Jr., Hardin and Will Winslow and Howard Sellman. The floral arrangements were in charge of his nieces, Mmes. John W. Patterson, Sr., Travis Walker, Howard Sellman, J. W. Patterson, Jr., and a close friend of the family, Mrs. Harry Wayland.
