Martha E. Walker was born in Missouri, the daughter of Hiram Farris and Mary M. Gordon Walker. She, her husband, and members of the Walker family came to Texas sometime before 1880. She had married Henry Beverly Winslow on October 4, 1873, in Vernon County, Missouri, and they had at least one child, Henry W., before making the move. Other children were; Hardin Nelson, Hanes D., William Ward, Minnie G., Vollie Marie and George P. Winslow.

Martha Winslow died February 3, 1901, and was laid to rest in the IOOF Cemetery, now San Saba City Cemetery.
