Albertine (Teen) died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield.

Albertine Ida (Millette) Bauerly, daughter of Henry and Suphranna (Trudeau) Millette, was the fourth of nine children. She was born on August 20, 1916, on a farm near Jefferson, South Dakota. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1935. She moved to Sioux City, Iowa after graduation to work as a nanny and housekeeper until she was called back home to the family farm near Jefferson when her mother had surgery from which she died. Albertine (Teen) remained to help raise her younger brothers and sisters along with her father until her marriage in 1938, to Albert. L. Bauerly, of Merrill, Iowa.

Al and Teen then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where their first born son, Jerome (Jerry), was born. Al worked for the Grand Union Tea Company and Teen remained at home to raise their son. Al got a promotion to the Des Moines, Iowa area where their second child Karen was born. When WWII broke out Al decided he wanted Teen and the children to be near family when he would be called to serve. Al served in the Pacific area of the war and was gone for two years while Teen took care of Jerry and Karen. When Al returned after the war he went to work for Knapp & Spencer Hardware Company out of Sioux City, Iowa. Teen continued to stay home with the children. Al and Teen made the decision to relocate to Nebraska so that Al would be able to be home more to help with then teenagers, Jerry and Karen and two more children added to the family with Keith and Marsha. Since Al had traveled as a hardware salesman in Nebraska and South Dakota he had stayed at many hotels. He found one in Wausa, Nebraska that was for sale so he purchased it and moved the family to Wausa in 1957, when Jerry was just beginning his senior year in high school. Teen then began her career as a hotel manager. In 1963, Al and Teen began construction of the Four Seasons Motel in Bloomfield, Nebraska and opened the doors of the motel in March 1964. Daughter, Karen and husband Lawney Hoppe, then took over management of the Commercial Hotel in Wausa, Nebraska, which they now own and operate. In 1990, Al and Teen turned over management of the Four Seasons to daughter, Marsha and husband Jack Dahlseid. Al and Teen purchased a nearby property to remodel and move into at that time. Jack and Marsha managed the Four Seasons Motel for a little over a year and then other managers were found for a period of time. Jack and Marsha returned to manage the motel for the second time in 1995 and are still running the motel at this time. Al passed away on August 23, 1996 and Teen remained in their home until her health required she move. She was at Sunset View Assisted Living for one year and then moved into Bloomfield Good Samaritan Nursing Home where she has been until her death.

Teen was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and St. Andrew's Altar Society. She was active in the local Senior Center activities after her retirement from motel management. Teen's favorite pass time was playing cards. She was also well known for her warm hospitality she gave to her customers she served both at the Commercial Hotel in Wausa and at the Four Seasons Motel in Bloomfield. She was very pleased when she received a plaque thanking her from seventeen snow orphans she fed during their stay at the Four Seasons during the blizzard of 1975.

Teen was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her sons, Jerry and Keith Bauerly; one great granddaughter, Shayla Haselhorst; her parents; and all of her siblings, but one, Sylvia Lynch.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughters and their spouses, Karen and Lawney Hoppe of Wausa, NE, Marsha and Jack Dahlseid of Bloomfield; daughter-in-law, Judy Bauerly of Omaha, NE; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Lynch of Vermillion, SD; and numerous friends and family.
