After leaving Salem, he went on to teach American Indians for the government at Indian reservations in Nevada, South Dakota and lastly Marshall Co, Minn.

Thomas John Jackson never remarried and after retiring as an Indian School administrator in Minnesota, ca 1939, returned to Douglas Co, Oregon, where he died in 1956. He is mentioned in his mother's obit as living in Minn. when she died Jan. 15, 1939 in Canyonville, Oregon.

Paul and family (2 children) lived and worked in the Detroit auto industry with residence in Canton, Michigan, about nine miles east of Detroit.

2. Esther M Jackson, b. 29 Mar. 1905, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Shannon Co, So. Dakota. Her father, Thomas John Jackson most likely was a teacher there. In May 2015, the Shannon County residents voted to change the name of the county to Oglala Lakota Co, since the general population is still mostly American Indian.

Esther M Jackson's first husband was Clayton Wm Noel, m. 1927 Boise, Idaho, divorced bet 1920 and 1940, as she is single in the 1940 Idaho census. In the obituary of her son, Robert S Noel, b 1929 Montana, d. Sept 22, 1950, Oakridge, Lane Co, Oregon, motorcycle accident, his obit lists his sister Joy J, residence Idaho, and his grandfather, Thomas John Jackson, residence Douglas Co, Oregon.

At some point, Esther was m. to a Dan Williams & resided in Seattle, Washington.

Note that her brother's obit listed his sister as "Esther Voges". She apparently married 3 times. Research is continuing.


Thomas' mother remarried a couple of times: A.P. Bacon 9 Sept. 1911, Portland, Multnomah Co., OR and John Quincy Adams Halladay Sept 22, 1920, Myrtle Creek, Douglas Co. OR. Both of her previous husbands were deceased.
